Case Study: Other Services

FCC Licensing
Problem:
A customer was using UHF radios for which they did not have an FCC license. This left the customer open to legal ramifications and/or monetary penalties.
Red Cloud Solution:
Red Cloud performed an onsite survey for the purpose of accurately cataloging all equipment and determining what type of usage was appropriate for the customer. After Red Cloud collected all of this information, we performed all the legwork with the FCC to ensure the customer was legally licensed for the level of usage appropriate to the customer's business. Once the license was granted, Red Cloud programmed all of the customer's radios with the legal and licensed frequencies. This final step was performed onsite at no additional charge, as a service that is included when a customer buys a two-way radio from Red Cloud.
Results:
The customer is now operating legally on their own licensed frequency with a fleet of radios that is fully programmed to the customer's specific requirements.
Sprint Together with Nextel
Problem:
A trucking company in the floral industry picked up and delivered product throughout the entire state of California. They used cell phones to communicate between the drivers and home base, as there was no conventional radio product available that covered such a wide area. The expense of doing business this way tended to be excessive. The drivers would often use their cell phones for personal calls, non-business calls to other drivers, and international calls.
Red Cloud Solution:
Red Cloud replaced the company's existing cell phones with Sprint Nextel Walkie-Talkie phones, enabled with GPS. The driver's phones were activated with Xora GPS TimeTrack, which enabled the company to track employees' timesheets, jobs and locations. To reduce the cost of personal and international calls the phones were setup with outgoing call restrictions.
Results:
The company's wireless communications cost was reduced dramatically. The drivers were able to communicate with one another and home base by utilizing Sprint Nextel's Walkie-Talkie functionality. When necessary, the home base was able to call the individual drivers as well. By utilizing Xora GPS TimeTrack, the company was able to plan routs more effectively, track hours more accurately, and manage their valuable resources efficiently. The company also realized a reduction in their insurance rates as a result of having vehicles equipped with GPS tracking.
GPS Navigation, Asset & Vehicle Tracking
Problem:
A heating and air conditioning company had no way of knowing where their technicians where at any given time. When a customer would call with an emergency the company's dispatcher would have to place calls to all the technicians to see who was closest to the job, and who was available to do the job. The company also suspected that some of the technicians were exaggerating about their hours, and possibly using the company vehicles for personal use.
Red Cloud Solution:
Red Cloud equipped the company with GPS-enabled Sprint Nextel walkie-talkie phones, and activated them with Xora GPS TimeTrack. Xora GPS TimeTrack allows the company to track employees' timesheets, jobs and locations using a GPS-enabled Sprint Nextel phone. Xora not only allows the dispatcher to see where every technician is, in real time, it also allows the dispatcher to see the estimated time of completion for the job currently being worked. So, when a customer calls with an emergency the dispatcher is able to know right away which technician is available to do the job, and can assign the job via the Xora web-based dispatching software. The dispatcher can also send driving directions right to the Sprint Nextel Phone.
Results:
The company is now able to keep better track of their technicians and assign jobs more efficiently. The technicians are no longer able to pad their hours or use company vehicles for personal use, and as a result the company is saving money. The company has also been able to take on more work as a result of the increased overall efficiency realized by the use of Xora combine with the Sprint Nextel GPS-enabled phone.
